I don't see it affecting me, as all my characters are lvl 20, but it does seem to be another 'dumbing down' of the game.
How is it "dumbing" down? The whole Level 20 journey is a joke anyway.

I mean, I can get to level 20 in Factions easy, that doesn't mean I'm any more "ready" for GWEN than a 10th level character.

This is just another way to get people into the "real" game faster. Why is that a bad thing?

I agree it's just marketing. They probably pulled up a spreadsheet that said X percent of characters aren't level 20 as an excuse for GW:EN not selling well... and here ya go. I think they're grasping at straws a bit as that is not likely the reason GW:EN didn't sell well, but marketers like to make up things like this when sales are bad.

From the looks of the Wiki, all the changes have been made to cover the lvl 10 changes. It would appear that this is going to be a permanent thing.

Still no official word from the website yet.

I wonder if the buffs only apply when that under 20 lvl char is in GW:EN, and goes away when they return to the other areas?

Yes, according to wiki, you have to be in a GWEN map.

So? Its not like very many people PUG anymore, and those who do arent likely to take anyone under level 20 anywhere. It doesnt distract from anything, nor does it really affect anything either.

Restriction removal is a good thing, imho, though the Journey to the North buff I find somewhat odd. Good only for a Survivor and not needed for any other reason. The buff only makes sense to me if applied globally, instead of just for GWEN. Not a big deal though since there are many ways known for Survivors to reasonably safely get exp elsewhere and you arent level 20 all that long anyway, at which point the buff becomes moot. Either way I dont mind the buff though.

Welcome to another weekly whine.

On another note - Looks to me like they are testing the implementation of the buff to lower level characters to allow them to play with higher level ones in GW2.

What I'm not sure of here is why people think that *all* level 10-19's over in eotn are new players who've never taken a character to level 20 and finished a campaign. Hurr?

So answer me this, do you who are complaining about this manage to create a new level 20 character from the get go? Nope. You create a level 1, just like everyone else, and work them up to level 20.

Also, since when does being level 20 mean you're *good*? O_o You all read these forums, right? You see the builds that some people run, and the crackhead things they do. Being under level 20 means you're missing levels and att points. It means little else.

I seriously doubt this is a temporary change, mostly due to the buff, the weapon crafter and the armor dude. Not needed for a supposed '5 hour eotn open access for all' weekend.

Keep QQ-ing though, as it's so endlessly entertaining watching you whine.

I kinda have mixed feelings on it.

It kinda bugs me that Anet wants to make absolutely everything simple to get. Get to level 10, go to GW:EN, automatically gain 2 level 20 heros..GG.

But on the same note...it wasnt much different before. Have a friend/guildy with level 20 heros hold your hand to level 20...GG.

So I dunno. Kinda have a "Meh, whatever" feeling about it.

I originally thought this was just for the weekend and to let people try out GW:EN regardless if they have a lvl 20 character or not. What is the harm in allowing that and trying to boast their sales ? They are running a business which is actually a service and if you DO NOT have that customer base then what do you think will happen ?

There are so many endless gripes about this and that in this post it isn't even funny. Do you honestly think they care about a small let's say 10 % of players that are the " Elite " of gamers out there ? They do what they can to make people happy but you ARE NOT the one that is paying the bill and keeping the servers going. There was another poster who also pointed out they may be testing some things for GW 2 and that is a very good possibility.

I know if I had Gaile's job I would take about 95% of what I read here within these forums and dump it in the trash. But I guess the whinning also has a place in that they can at least see what the " LEET " kiddies are whinning about this week.

Good observation. I'd originally have thought GW2 to be too different from GW to get any useful data about the system this way, but perhaps they can get anecdotal or general information on a test in this fashion, and my hunch says this is as much a part of it as any other reason.

It's official:

Try GW:EN for FIVE Hours – Even if You're Level 10!

Players who've secretly longed to try out the new Guild Wars: Eye of the North expansion, rejoice! This holiday season we're giving everyone a present: a five-hour trial of GW:EN! Plus, in the latest update we permanently lowered the level requirement for Eye of the North from 20 to 10 to make it easier than ever to enjoy the first true Guild Wars expansion. Think your character doesn't have what it takes? Think again. We now provide a buff to all characters level 10-19 to go toe-to-toe with the new content.

Maybe I'm retarded or something, but I cannot see one viable reason why someone without a level 10 character can or should care that level 10's can now get into Eye of the North. It simply does not affect you. You have the freedom of will to or to not let them in your group, and it doesn't change the gameplay in the least.

I wanted to say more, but that pretty much sums it up.

Learn to read, those lvl 10 will be maxed out in health and attribute points, they'll be no different from a real lvl 20

And what's the difficulty on getting to lvl 20?, and btw if you're tyrian you'll still need to do the ascension to get those att points, if you want to play in other continents/chapters

The idea of leveling up is so 2005 (back when prophecies came out)
Why is factions so rushed up? Why is nightfall rushed too?
BECAUSE THE "REAL" PLAY BEGINS AT LVL 20!!
why would I bother to do every stupid 1k experience quest if I already been through it like 5 or 6 times, when people make a 2nd or 3rd character they want to be lvl 20, they don't care for being the right lvl at the right place

There's nothing such as "High End" content as you like to call it, there are "difficult" (well, actually, "Not so c-spacerbar")

And I won't even get in the "high end armor" issue.

They theserve to have such items because they payed for the games.
I've seen lvl 10's wearing fow armor and frankly i don't RED ENGINE BLUE ENGINE YELLOW ENGINE PURPLE ENGINE care!!

You can't assume lvl 20 equals a large skill pool, as it can also mean just out of newbie territory and barely obtained a capture signet.

You can't assume that lvl 10 equals a small skill pool, as it can also mean lot's of unlocks at the skill trainer and elites via tomes.
